How horses help our veterans and first responders

2025 OFF TO A GOOD START!

Spending time with the horses always brings a smile to everyone's faces. There was still plenty of snow and even some icy patches so we worked indoors at our retreat on Saturday. Sully, as always, was game for the new obstacle, and met some new faces. We also helped Mike workout his own horse, Mattis, to get used to backing up with a handler. A big thank you to Bean and Bagel Cafe in Calverton for donating the bagels for breakfast, and in the clubhouse after lunch we celebrated Juliette's and Christine's birthdays with cake after lunch!

Due to Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),  22 veterans die by suicide every day.

Due to neglect or retirement from race or show careers, there are over 100,000 unwanted horses.

Equine assisted therapy has been proven to reduce symptoms of PTSD.

Through horse interaction, Warrior Ranch provides a safe haven of healing and well being for veterans, first responders and horses.

a touching tribute

Tracey Babst, our long time ranch volunteer and an EMT, who passed away Christmas Eve, will have a permanent memorial in our clubhouse, thanks to her friends of the Iron Medic’s EMS MC Medic 2. In response to Tracey’s generous gift to the ranch of our first fully stocked human first aid bag, the folks of Iron Medics donated 3 stocked first aid bags which bear her name. In a touching tribute, they had the original bag that Tracey donated memorialized in a shadow box to be displayed in the ranch’s clubhouse. Thank you so much to Iron Medics EMS MC 2 for this beautiful tribute, and to the Mastic Ambulance for donating the supplies in the bags.
