Powerful & Special night
Hearts were opened. Lives were touched. Stories were shared.
The Warrior Ranch family came together for an unforgettable evening at the premiere of "WARRIOR - A Battle Against Trauma: Learning to Love and Trust Again."
Directed and produced by Warrior Ranch Founder and President Eileen Shanahan and Media Specialist Danielle Altebrando, this powerful documentary explores the often overlooked struggles of veterans living with PTS and the healing potential of equine connection. We congratulate them on an extraordinary film.
An integral figure in the story is Warrior, the rescue horse whose own journey from abuse and neglect helped inspire the founding of Warrior Ranch. His resilience continues to reflect the mission at the core of our work: fostering trust, recovery, and connection between veterans and rescue horses.
Tommy DiMisa served as emcee for the evening, with Emmerson Ortolani delivering a moving rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. After the screening, the cast joined in a thoughtful Q&A, and we thank the veterans featured in the film for their courage in sharing their experiences.
Held at The Suffolk in Riverhead on May 22nd, the premiere was more than a film screening, it was a gathering of community, courage, and hope.
Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and continues to stand with us. The mission isn't over.

Due to Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), 22 veterans die by suicide every day.
Due to neglect or retirement from race or show careers, there are over 100,000 unwanted horses.
Equine assisted therapy has been proven to reduce symptoms of PTSD.
Through horse interaction, Warrior Ranch provides a safe haven of healing and well being for veterans, first responders and horses.
